The 2 States movie is an Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film written and directed by Shonali Bose. It stars Nargis Fakhri and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, with Sharman Joshi, Kirti Kulhari, Arjun Rampal, Pankaj Tripathi and Anupam Kher appearing in supporting roles. The film tells the story of two people who meet in college but develop feelings for each other 18 years later when they are living on opposite sides of a disputed border. The film was announced in October 2015, with Saif Ali Khan and Nargis Fakhri confirmed to star. Shonali Bose wrote the screenplay, and her sister Konkona Sen Sharma was selected to direct the film. She made her directorial debut with the film, making it the first time two Bose sisters had worked together on a feature film. The title "2 States" came from a conversation between Bose and Saif Ali Khan about their own love experiences. The principal photography of the film began in February 2016 at Mumbai. It wrapped up by June 2016 after completing 80% of its shoot schedule under the Andheri studios in Mumbai. The film's first poster was revealed three months prior to its release date. The soundtrack of the film has been composed by Amit Trivedi with lyrics penned by Anvita Dutt Guptan, Kausar Munir, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Swanand Kirkire and Shonali Bose herself. The soundtrack album consists of four tracks. "2 States" had its world premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on 10 September 2014. The film was released worldwide on 18 April 2015 in 2D and 3D formats as well as in IMAX 3D format by UTV Motion Pictures. Rotten Tomatoes, a review aggregator, reports that 42% of 28 surveyed critics gave the film a positive review; the average rating is 5.6/10. Metacritic rated it 49/100 based on reviews from 12 critics. "The Hollywood Reporter" called it "a routine, uninspired romantic drama" and added that "what should be populist fare feels more showy than sincere". Rachel Dwyer of IndieWire called it "a companion piece to "The Lunchbox", and to Bose's debut feature," while adding that the film was "more successful when exploring the other side's point of view." Sweta Kausalya of The Hindu called it an epic romance adding: "... the story of "2 States" is fresh, new and novel." Mansha Rastogi of "Filmfare" called it "a breezy rom-com that's never boring even when it probably should be" and rated it 3.5/5. Raja Sen, in his review for Rediff.com, called the film a rehash of previous Bollywood films; he gave 2.5 out of 5 stars. Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express gave the film 1.5/5 stars, writing ""2 States" is like one of those Agatha Christie murder mysteries where the only thing you know for sure at the end is that there are no clues. cfa1e77820
